Maple Valley and Auburn farmers markets recognized by American Farmland Trust
Two Puget Sound farmers markets are being recognized by the American Farmers Market Celebration, which is a yearly contest organized through the American Farmland Trust.
The Maple Valley and Auburn farmers markets each rallied enough community support to be top markets in the Pacific Northwest. The community voting campaign began Aug. 30 and wraps up Sept. 30. Maple Valley has 579 votes while Auburn has 535 votes as of Sept. 18. Other markets in the top five are Moscow (Idaho), Livingston (Montana), and Potlatch (Idaho).
The Auburn Farmers Market went from June 1 through Sept. 14 at Les Grove Park. The market features more than 40 vendors. The market site also has a playground and water park, which makes a great place for a family outing, according to an email from the Auburn Farmers Market team.
The Maple Valley Farmers Market has more than 100 vendors and takes place from May 3 through Oct. 25 at 25719 Maple Valley Black Diamond Road.
The American Farmers Market Celebration ranks top farmers market in the United States as voted by the public. Top markets are available to receive awards to help with marketing and communication efforts.
