Northwest Agriculture Business Center looks to close funding gap to help flood-damaged farms in Skagit County

The Northwest Agriculture Business Center is looking to close a $430,000 funding gap to help Skagit County farmers recover from December’s floods.

The Center received applications from 64 farms across Skagit County requesting $537,000 in grant funding with many applying for the $10,000 maximum application amount to pay for infrastructure repairs, replace damaged equipment and replant lost crops, according to information from the Northwest Agriculture Business Center.

Flooding in December arrived as farmers were preparing for the upcoming growing season. Some flood waters in some areas reached 15 feet deep.
