The deadline to file a water rights claim in Superior Court for adjudication in the Nooksack Basin has changed.
A Whatcom County Superior Court Judge approved a motion March 9 ordered a change of the filing deadline to June 1, 2027, from the original date of May 1, 2026.
“We are pleased with the ruling and believe that having a single deadline that is further out will reduce confusion and potentially increase the number of people who respond to the summons,” said Jed Holmes, spokesman for Whatcom County, which filed the motion.
