Seeds planted for new Lynnwood farmers market
Planning underway to place a farmers market at the Lynnwood City Center Station.
Officials for the City of Lynnwood and Sound Transit are laying the groundwork for a new farmers market.
The Lynwood City Council approved in early November issuing a $5,000 refundable deposit to Sound Transit to initiate the site agreement and advance planning for a farmers market at the Lynnwood City Center Station, multiple news outlets reported.
“A farmers market at this location will provide easy and convenient access not only from our ever-growing Lynnwood population, but most of King County, as well,” said Lynnwood Chamber of Commerce Frank Perceval in a letter to the Lynnwood Mayor and City Council. “With time, it could easily become the busiest, most successful farmers market in all of Snohomish County, bringing in significant and ongoing tax revenue to Lynnwood.”
Sound Transit proposed allowing the use of the property at no charge in exchange for sponsorship recognition, according to Lynnwood City Council documents. The agreement would allow discounted advertising on trains and stations, and flexibility to host special events including food truck areas and live performances.
The Lynnwood City Center Station opened in August 2024, and the site emerged as a favorite due to its accessibility to light rail, buses and ample weekend parking, according to the council documents.
A spokesperson from the City of Lynnwood said planning for the new farmers market is still in the early stages and more information will be available in the spring of 2026.
