Plans are underway to place a new meat processing facility at the recently opened Tenino Agricultural Innovation Park in Thurston County.

“There could be up to 100 different ranchers who could use this facility,” said Aslan Meade, director of strategic alliances with the Thurston Economic Development Council, about the proposed small-scale meet processing facility. The Thurston EDC partnered with the City of Tenino and the Dragonwheel Investment Group to develop the Agricultural Innovation Park.

He pointed out the options farmers have for meat processors. There is a mobile slaughter unit available in southwest Washington as well as other facilities at the Port of Skagit and Snohomish. In addition, local ranchers use facilities in Sandy, Ore., or Moses Lake.
