Albert and Priscilla Ndlovu have spent a significant part of 2026 growing vegetables they were familiar with when they grew up in Zimbabwe.

The retired couple started a small farm on two acres growing corn, tomatoes, celery, kale, Swiss chard, pumpkins and squash, beans and peas. They are growing varieties they are familiar with from their native country.

“The availability of fresh vegetables that we are used to is very rare,” Priscilla said as she was finishing picking tomatoes.

They are two of the farmers who are growing at Heritage Farm, which is owned by King County and leased to farmers.
