Kitsap County clarifies farm stand regulations

Kitsap County is clarifying how equestrian facilities, with such features as boarding or training operations, can use farm stands.

The county’s Department of Community Development issued a Director’s Interpretation in May in response to inquiries about whether equestrian facilities can offer farm-related items, such as hay or feed, for sale on site and what circumstances the activities are allowed under county code.

Current regulations allow farm stands as an accessory use to agricultural operations. The farm stands are limited to activities that remain closely connected to the farm itself and don’t function as a larger, independent retail business.
