Food Bank Farm near Snohomish needs volunteers for harvest
Volunteer numbers are down as a bountiful harvest arrives that will help supply food banks throughout Western Washington.
Food Bank Farm is looking for volunteers to pick squash that helps supply food banks throughout Western Washington.
The farm, which operates near Snohomish, grows vegetables on about 10 acres of land and is a ministry of the Episcopal Church of the Holy Cross in Redmond.
Rev. Jim Eichner, Associate Rector at Holy Cross, said the number of volunteers is down and needs help to pick thousands of pounds worth of crops.
Harvest will take place on Thursdays and Fridays through the end of October and volunteers will be harvesting around 75,000 pounds of butternut squash in the coming weeks, which will fill two semi-trucks, Eichner said. Volunteers will also help harvest Napa cabbage, bok choy and other vegetables.
Food Bank Farm is hoping to harvest 500,000 pounds of food this season that will be transported to area food banks. The farm grew 400,000 pounds of produce in 2025, which was double its annual average.
Volunteer harvest times will go from 9 a.m. to noon on Thursdays and Fridays.
