Viva Farms sets groundwork for career in agriculture
With properties in Skagit and King counties comprising more than 100 acres, Viva Farms provides training for aspiring farmers.
For Natdiechka Alvarez, she hopes to start a regenerative farm and education center and motivate other women.
“There’s a lot of moms and single parents who can start their own business,” Alvarez said through an interpreter.
She is laying the foundation for her life in agriculture by participating in the bilingual Practicum in Sustainable Agriculture offered through Viva Farms, which has properties in Skagit and King counties. She is one of around 30 students taking the class that is offered at each farm. She was interested in the program because of the resources available.
