Polo matches take place in the heart of rural Skagit County
La Conner Polo Club holds events July through September.
Amid the farm fields of the Skagit Valley, one of the “game of kings” is being played throughout the summer months.
The La Conner Polo Club, which provides tournaments and a training ground for riders, offers the only organized polo matches throughout the Puget Sound region. Last weekend saw tournaments taking place both Saturday and Sunday. Events take place from July through September offering competition for all levels of players.
This weekend sees a United States Polo Association Women’s Challenge on Saturday and Sunday. Admission costs $10 per person. Spectators should bring a lunch, refreshments and a pop-up tent or umbrella.
Leesan Kwok, a Federal Way resident, started playing polo when she was a student at the University of California Santa Barbara where she helped re-start the university’s equestrian team. She graduated in 2017.
