Delegation traveled to DC to talk red raspberry trade
Representatives from the Washington Red Raspberry Commission traveled to Washington, D.C. in early June to advocate for the industry’s trade priorities.
Commission officials met with members of the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate, as well as senior agricultural staff and administration officials, to engage in discussions on current trade markets and opportunities for reform during the upcoming United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) review.
“We appreciate the opportunity to meet with our representatives and discuss the challenges facing our industry,” said Gavin Willis, Executive Director of the Washington Red Raspberry Commission in the commission’s newsletter. “As USTR prepares for the upcoming USMCA review, we urge renewed focus on policies that support the competitiveness and long-term viability of U.S. raspberry production. We are hopeful that the administration will advance meaningful solutions that address unfair competition and help level the playing field for Washington’s raspberry growers.”
